ALTARed + DISINFECTED

In 2008, black and white and color film was purchased in Denver, Colorado and half of the rolls were shot in unremarkable locations. For 12 years, the undeveloped film traveled around the country, scarred by trials and time.

In 2020, just as COVID 19 hit and people worldwide retreated to self-quarantine, the remaining film was shot and developed in Portland, Oregon.  The resulting negatives were cleansed, burnt, washed, and disinfected both before and after they were developed. 

 

 

Through ritualistic cleansing of memory and intentional disruption of linear time, fantastical realities emerge, inviting possibility.  Purification and consecration of the everyday yield unexpected evidence questioning the Boundaries of truth and transformation.
